This past weekend out little nephew Jackson had his first birthday! My sister in law (Jackson’s mom) had Jackson’s first birthday party and decided to do a baseball theme for the party. I thought this was a great theme which was not an overwhelming amount of work. It was simple yet very nice! The party was an afternoon party so lunch wasn’t served, but snacks were! We did soft pretzels with mustard, popcorn, peanuts, cracker jacks, fruit salad, baseball guacamole dip, cherrios and goldfish. Oh, and of course a baseball themed cake!
The party turned out great and the refreshments were the perfect fit for the theme. I thought I would share this with all of our readers because it turned out so cute and really was easy to put together. I have included some pics of the table layout and of course an adorable picture of my beautiful nephew Jackson.
Have you ever done a particular theme for a child’s birthday party? If so, share all your ideas, tips and recipes with us!

Stonyfield Farm YoBaby Conver contest in 2005 was such a great success that YoBaby is at again. The search is on for a baby and a toddler for its organic yogurt packaging! I know plenty of zingy kids that are well deserving of being the cover baby!
The YoBaby Cover Contest will include two grand-prize winners:
- A baby age 6 - 12 months
- A toddler age 13 - 24 months
Winners will receive a $5,000 U.S. Savings Bond, portraits from The Picture People and an all expense paid trip to San Francisco.

It amazes me that my daughter is already 20 months and counting. In the beginning months of her life there were times when I thought I couldn’t wait for her to get a little older. I blinked, and now here we are…my baby is not a baby anymore. The next time I blink she will be going to her first day of school, riding a bike, or driving a car.
Time keeps rolling and each day is a new day. A new day to learn, discover, and to love. Don’t get caught up in what hasn’t happened yet or the throws of everyday life. Jobs come and go, time passes, and life happens. Your children grow up and grow up fast. Life is something that can’t be re-negotiated. Make sure you take the time to enjoy the “now” in your life and the “now” in your children.
Be an everyday parent and enjoy each and every single day that you have to impact your children’s lives, for once that day is gone you can never get it back.

Sometimes it is the rough times in our lives that make us realize just how nice our lives are when there are no rough times. Things that make you realize that time with your kids and family shouldn’t be taken for granted. A few months ago, my daughter had been sick on and off for the past 2 weeks, some nights and days were difficult. When things around our house started getting back to normal and my daughter started feeling better, I paused and thought of all the things that I love about being a mother. Here are some of my favorite things:
· The knowledge that life in itself is a miracle, an amazing cycle through laughter and tears, and such a precious gift.
· The excitement on her face in the morning when I get her out of her crib so we can hug and spend the day together.
· Cuddling on the couch in the morning watching her favorite cartoon, while we both try to wake up.
· Sharing stories about our child and other children with other moms.
· Seeing my daughter giggle and scream as her daddy walks in the door from work. Easily forgetting her favorite toys or books she is playing with at the moment.
· Hearing her soft breathing and sighs as she sleeps at night. A sound that can put anyone at ease and let you know that everything will be ok.
Tell us some of your favorite things about being a mom or dad!
