With Halloween right around the corner, I wondered if most families of toddlers go through the same things when it comes to costumes. My almost three year old daughter has changed her mind about her costume at least 10 times. First she wanted to be a kitty, then Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Cinderalla, and at one point Hannah Montana. I honestly don’t think she really even knows who Hannah Montana is. Regardless, we are going with the original idea of a kitty even though now that does seem so popular. I am pretty sure if there is any resistance to any costume the night of Halloween, all we have to do is mention candy and everything will be just fine!
I wonder if most parents of toddlers go through this and at what point the craziness ends? What costume craziness do you go through every year with your child? Or have you been the lucky one that has found the perfect costume?

Making your own animal crackers is a great way to spend time in the kitchen and a good thing for your little one to help out with! You can get animal cookie cutters at most local stores. Williams Sonoma has some that are really cute and seem to be easier for toddlers to handle. Check them out here.
Here is a great and easy recipe:
Grind oatmeal in a food processor. Add salt, brown sugar, flour and baking soda. Cut in butter. Add honey, and buttermilk. Mix to a dough that is firm. Form into rounds and place in refrigerator for about an hour or more.
Preheat oven to 400F.
Roll dough thin, about 1/8 of an inch on a floured surface. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees until brown (6 to 10 minutes). Monitor closely as cookies can go from golden to brown very quickly.
Let cool 10 minutes, and enjoy!
]]>Parents magazine is having a baby bump photo contest and out of over 2000 entries, one of our friends and readers has made the final top 20! I work with Matt, the first time father and husband of georgous mommy Jenna in the picture above. He also happens to love photography and in my opinion is a really great photographer!
Matt and Jenna happen to be one of the nicest genuine couples I have ever met and are truly going to be great parents. They have my vote in the contest and I ask that you all take the two seconds a day to vote for them as well. Even if I didn’t know Matt and Jenna, I would still vote for their picture, because honestly it is the best one of the finalist!
So here is what you do:
Voting ends on October 21st. So make sure you vote every day…..I hope I can follow up with a post of this photo being the winner with your help!
Although Matt is a computer nerd by day his true passion is photography. You can check out his personal photography site here.
