Travel: A road trip your kids will love (especially if you live in the western U.S.)
Hi all, DaddyZing here. I thought I would type up a quick travel post as MommyZing has been quite busy as of late.
When I was a kid, not sure how old I was probably between 6 and 8 years old, we used to take road trips instead of flying everywhere. For example we would drive from Phoenix, AZ to Clearwater, FL for our summer vacations. I am not sure how many times we did it but it was always a lot of fun.
Ironically, the road trip that has stuck in my memory the most I dont’t remember the destination. What I do remember are the stops along the way. In the western United States the landscape can be very extreme. On this particular trip we took the time to visit some examples of those extreme landscapes. We drove through the Painted Desert, the Petrified Forest, and visited the Meteor Crater. Why did this stick with me? I think the contrasts and uniqueness of each place is what made it stick. Trees that appear to be stone, hills that look like layers of colored sand and a hole in the earth created 50,000 years ago. You can’t get much more extreme than that.

The point is, no matter where you live, I am willing to bet a trip to a couple of unique places will stick in your kids heads forever. To top it off a trip like this will cost you little more than gas and your time.
